Your questions answered
What counts as a seal?
Each time a document is sealed via the API - whether it's a new document or a new version of an existing one - that counts as one seal. Verification checks are free of charge and do not count toward your allowance.
What happens if I go over my monthly limit?
Sealing is paused until the next billing cycle. We'll notify you at 80% usage so you're never caught off guard. You can upgrade at any time during the month.
Do you store the documents themselves?
No. DocuLock never stores the content of your files. We store only the cryptographic hash - a mathematical fingerprint. Your documents stay in your own systems.
Can I integrate DocuLock into my own product?
Yes. Platform & Reseller includes embedded API licensing, so you can offer document sealing and verification as a feature within your own platform, under your own brand.
How does annual billing work?
Annual plans are billed as a single upfront payment and work out to two months free compared to monthly. You can switch from monthly to annual at any time.
Does DocuLock help with compliance?
DocuLock creates a tamper-evident audit trail for every document you seal - who sealed it, when, and what the exact content was at that moment. This supports compliance requirements around document integrity and record-keeping in regulated industries including legal, financial services, and HR.
What are the security standards?
All seals use SHA-256, the same cryptographic standard used in financial systems and legal technology worldwide. Hashes are stored independently of the documents themselves, so even if your document storage is compromised, the seal record remains intact and verifiable.
What's our risk exposure if we don't use something like DocuLock?
Without cryptographic proof of what was issued, your only defence in a dispute is your word. Documents can be altered after the fact, versions can be misrepresented, and the burden of proof falls on you. For professional services firms, that risk is reputational as well as financial.
